Summary of Collision Repair & Refinish Standards Revisions

The number of required hours in Mechanical & Electrical was reduced from 240 hours to 200 hours. The overall total of program hours was thus reduced to 1,060 hours. Please refer to item 3 on page 4 in the Collision Repair & Refinish Minimum Requirements section of the Program Standards.

To reflect changes in technology and practice, some tasks were removed, while other new tasks were added. Additionally, some existing tasks were combined.

The wording and priority designations of some tasks were changed, but the requirement to teach 95% of HP-I and 90% of HP-G tasks remains the same.

A letter from the Program Administrator indicating that the school is aware of OSHA requirements on respiratory protection for respirator fit testing and filter change remains in effect.

A compliance document from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is no longer required for programs submitting for accreditation or renewal of accreditation. However, it is assumed that all programs will comply with their local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
