CASE Fact Sheet
The CASE program offers a certification of providers of
training for working technicians. The National Automotive Technicians
Education Foundation (NATEF) will evaluate the training providers'
process of developing and delivering training and then recommend
certification as an ASE Certified Training Provider of Continuing
Automotive Service Education (CASE).
The Process
Training providers order CASE materials (Standards,
Application, Polices/Procedures) from NATEF. After completing
their self-evaluation, the
provider submits copies of their completed CASE application for
review by NATEF. If deemed complete by NATEF, a one-day onsite
evaluation is scheduled and undertaken with an Evaluation Team
Leader (ETL) and team members. After the onsite evaluation, the
ETL makes a report and recommendation to NATEF for certification
of the training provider. NATEF reviews the report and circulates
it to the members of the In-Service Training Committee. With committee
agreement, NATEF notifies the provider that they have received
ASE certification as a training provider of Continuing Automotive
Service Education. If the provider is not eligible for certification,
NATEF will identify the areas needing improvement.
At this time there will be a three year certification
cycle with a update report required after years one and two.
Recertification will use the same process as the initial certification.
A CASE Training Provider's Code of Ethics has also been
developed. Certified training providers must sign off on the Code and
agree to abide by its principles.
The Fees
Based on a three year certification cycle, the committee
recommended and approved the following fee structure:
- Cost of Case Materials $150
(Standards, Policies/Procedures, Application w/disk)
- Application Fee $750
(to be paid with submission of Application)
- Annual Fee-End of first year $150

- Annual Fee-End of second year $150
Additional costs include travel expenses of ETL and team
members for onsite evaluation.
