Advisory Committee Information

NATEF Standard 2.5 requires that each certified program or program seeking certification must have an advisory committee consisting of at least five members. The committee must meet a minimum of twice per year and be utilized to provide counsel, assistance, and information from the community served by the training program. A good advisory committee is a very strong asset to the program when used properly. It is important to remember that Advisory Committees
  • Create partnerships between the Program and the industry in the community it serves
  • Promote public awareness of the Program
  • Represent the views and needs of the public to the Program
  • Broaden the perspective of school personnel
  • Provide the means for the program to remain relevant to business and industry needs
  • Offer input and advice - they do not set policy
Download an Advisory Committee Handbook in pdf format. This booklet provides all the information you need to get your advisory committee started - or to improve its (and your) effectiveness.
